Map Showing Savage, Maryland and Vacinity
Savage
is located in southeastern Howard County, almost exactly
half way between Washington, D.C. and Baltimore. A former cotton mill town, until about
15 years ago it remained an isolated rural village along the banks of the Little Patuxant
river. The old mill, parts of which date back to the early 1800's, is now an antiques mall,
and Savage has become a bedroom community for commuters working in the Baltimore-Washington
corridor. Even still, the original village area near the mill remains largely unchanged in
appearance from 80 years ago, and the community has maintained much of its small-town charm.
