The Ridgway family settled in the Fork District of Warren County (then part of Shenandoah County) between 1820 and 1825. They first established homesteads along Cabin Run. The William Ridgway (1821-1912) farm was burned by Sheridan's men during the Civil War. William and Amelia Ridgway are buried in the Frederick Burying Ground, located nearby. The Clapsaddle Farm was also in this same vacinity, just off Totten Road. Byrd and Hannah Clapsaddle are buried at Bennett's Chapel off Route 619.
